I don’t really value user friendliness, I wanted scripts that I could easily launch through a rofi menu system, home assistant seems to be a full GUI in and of itself, but I don’t really know much about it.

Idk about self study workbooks, but i used cs50p.

cs50.harvard.edu/python/2022/ Free lectures from harvard’s David Malan, there are problem sets to work through which let you test your answers, and a free certificate at the end if you care for that.

I know not quite what you asked for, but thought id share in case it sounds interesting. I found the lectures very engaging and the problem sets were great way to practice what is being taught

Tangent: Something like home assistant could also abstract a fait bit of complexity especially when you start dealing with different manufacturers.

The crafting of titles is a tricky thing :) Sure, you could say that the title should read “Python 3.13’s code base will have the addition of support for a JIT” or similar, but at the end of the day, does this distinction actually matter so long as the article contains the important bits in an accurate way?

I guess what I’m saying is that we’re in subjective territory here and to my mind, I’ve seen WAY more egregious examples of misleading utter click bait titles.

It’s not horrible and yes a little pedantic. Also OP just copied the title from the blog so no fault there. Maybe something like “Python 3.13 will ship with experimental JIT flag” would have been more precise but it’s no big deal. I was more dropping a comment to summarize for others who hadn’t read the article rather than to be overly critical of title

Generally, I consider using your database schema as an API like this to be a bad architectural choice, especially if you are using an ORM like Django where you don’t have direct control over how the schema is structured.

If it was me, I’d prefer to design an interface to allow the other applications access to the data they need, so as to maintain the abstraction between the logical structure of your models and the messy reality of SQL. Build an actual REST API, define an Open API schema to document it.
