Monitoring via Dom0 possible? (Xen in Qubes OS)

Actually I have an external monitoring solution (#Zabbix in this case) and I want to monitor system properties like the motherboard temperature and disk #SMART data.

How would I push (or pull) this data from my #QubesOS host to that monitoring server?

#Dom0 has no network connectivity, at least not by default. So..., should I create a networked/simple/dedicated monitoring Qube and copy relevant data "manually" (minutely by cron) from Dom0 to that qube? And then relay it to the monitoring host?

Seems to be cumbersome! Any better approach?
