I remember, as a kid in the UK in the 80s, seeing National Front pamphlets left around outside the school.

The popularity of this fascist party was at its height in the 1970s. Their manifesto included leaving the EEC/EU and expelling immigrants and refugees. They also wanted to ban "leftist" (i.e. "woke") teaching in schools, and to discourage "anti-family" practices such as abortion.

The NF are still around today, nowadays they are called the Conservative and Unionist Party.

Whenever you see a pro-Brexit Daily Mail headline, or talk of the Royal Navy sinking small boats, or a Home Secretary decrying the UN charter for refugees, or a Tory thinktank talking about "great replacement" or "focus on family", you are hearing echoes of the NF. The NF was founded in the 1960s from old members of Mosley's British Union of Fascists. The Daily Mail was an ardent supporter of Mosley, himself a devoted admirer of Hitler.
