People are speaking with ChatGPT for hours, bringing 2013’s Her closer to reality

Long mobile conversations with the AI assistant using AirPods echo the sci-fi film.

Excellent reporting here from @benjedwards and @arstechnica! My personal reaction is "Huh, I am old now?" but this is really important stuff to be aware of.

@arstechnica I almost hate to ask, but did they fix the whole "telling suicidal people to kill themselves" problem?

@arstechnica it even sounds like Scarlett Johansson. I wonder if that was intentional? 🤔

@arstechnica lonely people are lonely. I bet some of these people converse with it because of social anxiety.

I remember decades ago I, and many others, used chatrooms to talk to complete strangers about our everyday problems.

I have no doubt that if I wasn't afforded that opportunity, I would not be here today.

The key here is having a HEALTHY relationship with AI. The movie "Her" depicted an obsessively lonely man that refused to accept the world around him, not healthy.
