U.S. Energy Security chief Amos Hochstein landed in Israel last week to broker a deal to exploit Gaza's offshore gas reserves after the war.

The Gaza Marine LNG Field deal was arranged in June between Egypt, Israel and the Fatah-run Palestinian Authority to jointly develop this enormous untapped resource.

The U.S. sent Hockstein to finalize the deal with Netanyahu, since 12 transnational oil/gas companies, including BP, Eni, South Korea's Dana, Azerbaijan's SOCAR and two Israeli gas firms, NewMed Energy and Ratio Energies, were awarded licenses to drill the Gaza Marine reserve at the end of last month. Palestine, the U.S. claims, will become a gas export hub, and the projected gas revenues for the P.A. are mouth-watering.
