@MartMichaelis Even if most cases are mild, I don't know why so many parents think it's ok for their kids to get sick at all if there is a way to prevent it.

MartMichaelis,

@AskPippa Ignorance? I guess, most do not think that much about it. Moreover, many people have forgotten or do not know that there will be severe cases and deaths, if we have more infections. And cases of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis... Plus the threat to immunocompromised individuals, who cannot protect themselves by vaccination...

@MartMichaelis Yeah, it was a bit of a rhetorical question. When I've talked to vaccine-hesitant, they believe the vaccines are harmful. There are still a lot out there who think they cause autism, somehow weaken the immune system, contain formaldehyde (far less than fruit contains, or what is naturally made in the human body) or other 'poisons', and so-on.
And you're right, many don't know about the severe cases, hearing loss ('measles ears'), deaths, etc.
Pre-pandemic, I did some outreach at street festivals. We focused on showing and describing the symptoms of various diseases before leading into talking about the vaccines.
