#MyFirstMac was a 75MHz Performa 5200CD all-in-one running System 7. I very quickly figured out how to use it, how to break it, how to fix it, and how to upgrade it. It wasn’t a model from the best of times for Apple, but it nonetheless launched my hobby and career in technology. I am extremely fortunate to have parents who supported my interest in technology at every turn — they got me books, magazines, electronic components, old stuff to disassemble, and Macs when they could afford them.
