Today, I had to raise the flag that the feature I'm working on is at risk.
I'm a bit frustrated for a few reasons -
When I asked when the deadline was, I was told "don't worry about it." But Monday, I was told it needs to be delivered by next week.
I've been working really hard on this feature, even putting in extra hours for the past couple of weeks. I'm so sleep deprived, that I've been randomly crying at the bus stop and in the bathroom.
Also, before I get "have you asked for help?" -
It's not that I don't know what to do, it's just that doing it takes me a long time.
I've dabbled in front-end, but I'm primarily a backend engineer, and I've never used Ember, so when I know something is possible, it takes me a while to figure out how to do it.
Plus, the last time I asked my team a simple coding question, I was told to pay the $20/mo and ask ChatGPT 😭😭
@natknight Yeah, it was a bit disappointing to hear that comment my 2nd month on the job.
I think some people just have a hard time remembering what it's like to be new. And what seems like "not a big deal" to someone experienced may seem really upsetting for someone with less than a year experience.
It's cool though, I do have a good team overall - being new is just very challenging
