adamshostack,

Is there a way to make every mac app STFU and not beep unless granted a specific permission? I've been through the system notification prefs, one by one like a barbarian, and transmission doesn't use that API.

Any true Scotsman would let me chmod /dev/sound and add my browser, zoom, and music to the 'beepbeep' group. 😇

pauliehedron,

@adamshostack

When I switched from streaming on Windows, where I used VoiceMeeter for audio routing, I ended up with Rogue Amoeba Loopback to do a similar function. I'm not streaming anymore, but I do like the control of having to add individual apps and redirecting or muting audio.

There is also free software versions, such as Blackhole, but I have no experience with it, since I have the sunk cost in the paid software. :ablobcool:

pauliehedron,

@adamshostack Because I haven't looked in a minute, I see on Rogue Amoeba site, they have something similar to "EarTrumpet" which in my windows days I also used for inidividual app audio volume control and not audio routing.

(Loopback does more for more $)

adamshostack,

@pauliehedron Thank you for the pointer. looks like exactly what I need. Flgaging for anyone else: there's a reboot step in here.
