The biggest challenge in 2024 is to get enough people to actually listen to what Trump and those around him are openly, consistently, and explicitly promising to do once they get back to power.

It is utterly deranged, and discounting it as just rhetoric would be a disaster.

pauliehedron,

@tzimmer_history It always makes me chuckle when the right thinks no one else but them has firearms. :blobcatgun:

ok, need some feedback: It appear that pixelfed is moving in the direction of mariadb, away from postgres, and the current issues appear to stem from my us of postgres. I've been contemplating a move to the domain infosec.pics, which would essentially be starting over. There is no (as far as I know) working way to migrate pixelfed accounts from one server to a different server. I don't like the idea, but I also don't like the idea of a persistently partially broken instance, either.

We have 323 total accounts and 26 active accounts, so while the blast radius may be small, it's a complete PITA for those 26 people.

What say you?

Today president Zelenskyy of replaced Ukrainian General Valerii Zaluzhnyi with a new Commander in Chief, General Oleksandr Syrskiy.

According to Kyiv, Valerii Zaluzhnyi will “stay on the team”.

pauliehedron,

@randahl @anderspuck @DeeGLloyd

Did you see Zelenskyy's statement on this change? He is very clear on the goals of the change; the bringing up of new battle tested officers into leadership, the needed rotations on the front so those taking the brunt of the battles don't just get ground to nothing, and fixing logistics so those at the front get what they need.

@TOrynski It will be interesting to see which putin he will "interview". The germaphobe one, the hug a child (whos family is under direct threat of death if they don't allow) one, or the vehicle driving one.

Edit: I guess there is also the standing around waiting for other country leaders for 5 minutes till they show up one.

    They are not comparable.

    One is a recognized nation where the terrorists did a full on invasion, did some rape, murder, kidnapping of children and murdering the parents, and mass death to civilians without care, and continue to murder civilians while being fought back by the victim nation who doesn't want war, going on two years now (and since 2014 when they were first invaded) and the world did nothing but invest in the imperialist aggressor state.

    The other is a bunch of terrorists crossed a fenced border, did some rape, murder and mass death at a peace concert and other locations joyfully, kidnapping of children and adults as negotiation tools aka hostages to free convicted murderers, then they retreated with their hostages and mutilated civilians to hideouts and tunnels under hospitals and other civilian structures (where they also had other members of the terrorist group working), all the while oppressing their own people while continuing to fire rockets on a daily basis from said civilian locations against a neighbor who didn't want war. This particular terrorist group doesn't have a veto on the UN security council.

    See, no comparison.

    Is there a way to make every mac app STFU and not beep unless granted a specific permission? I've been through the system notification prefs, one by one like a barbarian, and transmission doesn't use that API.

    Any true Scotsman would let me chmod /dev/sound and add my browser, zoom, and music to the 'beepbeep' group. 😇

    pauliehedron,

    @adamshostack

    When I switched from streaming on Windows, where I used VoiceMeeter for audio routing, I ended up with Rogue Amoeba Loopback to do a similar function. I'm not streaming anymore, but I do like the control of having to add individual apps and redirecting or muting audio.

    There is also free software versions, such as Blackhole, but I have no experience with it, since I have the sunk cost in the paid software. :ablobcool:

    https://github.com/ExistentialAudio/BlackHole

    pauliehedron,

    @adamshostack Because I haven't looked in a minute, I see on Rogue Amoeba site, they have something similar to "EarTrumpet" which in my windows days I also used for inidividual app audio volume control and not audio routing.

    This was a reasoned and reasonable process for the question. Have a hearing and a retired judge review it, give an argued opinion, and then make a fair call based on that opinion.

    Unfortunately, I suspect a lot of people won't make it to the bottom of the article where the republican judge in question said yes it was an insurrection, but the board of elections isn't the place to argue constitutional law when it's 6 weeks before a deadline.

    I was working there when the change from in store prep of meats and veg switched over to pre-cut bagged.

    Tomatoes, lettuce, onions, green peppers, all were fresh boxed right from wholesalers and we did all the prep (coring, slicing, shredding)

    Pickles came in a 5 gallon bucket.

    And all the meats were sliced into parchment paper setups the night before or the morning of. Meatballs were a frozen product, we would weigh out along with a measure of tomato sauce from a can.

    Frozen bread sticks of white/wheat placed in the proofer overnight so ready the next morning for baking.

    The only thing I got when the switch over to pre-cut packaged was the lunch crew would leave me their dishes to wash by hand as I closed 6 nights a week. That SUCKED because it was boring and hard to get done with all the irregular walk-ins at night.

    If was after I left I found out about how I worked 38 hours a week... and being shamed for not getting everything done by closing working a couple hours every night off clock was "problematic."
