Example of Object Tag vs Topic Tag in Programming #Zettelkasten https://christiantietze.de/posts/2024/02/example-object-tag-vs-topic-tag-programming-zettelkasten/

Tagging a complicated topic for many. Found an example for fellow macOS/AppKit/UIKit programmers that should be relatable!

@ctietze I struggle with tags. What's the difference between a one-word-topic "screenshot" and an object "screenshot"?

I love multi-word-topics describing the problem or concept like "take-screenshots-programatically" or thelike. As we can "take screenshots" it seems to make "screenshot" an object
But is screenshot a real thing or just a concept? Isn't a "screenshot object" simply any image we put some meaning into?

Hard task. :blobhaj_thinking:

@mafe I think I get what you mean. If the space grows, you need differentiation. Then "taking screenshots" opposed to "looking at screenshots" could be worth it.

Take "appkit" from my post. 14 years ago it sounded like a good idea, and then I continued to use the topic tag. But it turned out that I'm not stopping at 10, 100, or even 1000 notes on programming for Mac, so it doesn't pay off. While originally "this is about appkit, not web dev" sounded like a good idea, it's now useless that way.
