However

The underlying cause of diverged git branches is failure to plan and failure to communicate. When people are modifying, not merely the same files, but the same parts of those files, that being the thing that makes changes non-rebase-able, that is a HUGE problem that no technical anything can fix because it is a problem rooted in political economy.
