yeah perhaps giving the cops access to dna databases, selling it to insurance companies, refusing deletion requests and skimping on security and getting popped dont really give folks a sense their data is safe with 23andme, and im willing to bet thats impacting their bottom line
@dirkhh@paul_ipv6 because in the beginning they were a little startup and never made it clear they planned on behaving this way. also, ten years ago the security landscape was very different, and they likely had different leadership

@Viss@krypt3ia their entire brand is privacy and premium-ness; the second that perception erodes will be the beginning of the end. Maybe advertising revenue is the heroin of business models: just too addictive to quit if you ever start.
