Svenska (Swedish) has a useful thing I wish English had: an affirmative answer to a negated question.

ja = yes
jo = yes rejecting the negation

Example:

Pratar du svenska? Ja.
(“Do you speak Swedish?” “Yes”)

Pratar du inte svenska? Jo.
(“Don’t you speak Swedish? You’ve lived here 6 years. You must be a bad immigrant.” “Yes, I do, shithead.”)
