Alright, potentially weird request incoming: I want to make music inside a DAW, but want to do it programmatically (eg. by writing code that emits notes/MIDI events.)

What are my options?

(Yes, I know I can just steer my DAW via MIDI events. Looking for something more integrated. Yes, I also know of SonicPi.)

@hmans Ohne es jemals benutzt zu haben: Ich hörte davon, dass Pyramix in die Richtung gehen könnte.

@Helena Werde mich reinlesen, danke! <3

Steering the WebAudio API from JS is fun (except for having to unlock the audio context first). I'm sort of craving a similar API, except I'm directly steering my DAW (without having to set up MIDI routing first.)

@hmans Ardour is pretty open in that respect, you can do a lot from the LUA side.

@normen Aah, very good, you understand what I'm looking for. Thanks, I'll take a look!

@hmans And for the actual "making sounds and music with code" part - you know about csound? Its old but its really cool.
