Absolutely stunning day for #butterflies today at Calavera. Surprise finds; surprise absences. If I had a wish, it would be for more landings. Much of what I saw was on its way somewhere. So no pix. But the Lorquin’s Admiral showed up big time.

I admit: I just video with my cell and pull frames I like. It’s a cheap method, but with butterflies, there’s little planning to be done. I walk maybe 5-10 miles and may see something anywhere along my route. Just taking the time to pull a lens cap will cost me the shot. 🤷♂️

Among other #butterflies today, a random sighting of Fatal Metalmark. Far from where I usually see them, but I spotted fluttering down close to the ground and I followed it successfully to a perch.
