I was a head-banging honors student (ripped jeans, rock t-shirts, etc.). A really weird mix that most of my teachers didn't take well. They assumed I did drugs (I did not ... tried pot a couple of times but didn't like it.)
One horrible thing I learned ... many teachers think the worst of kids they even assume are on drugs (rather than, say, oh, maybe trying to help them).
