@yogthos
It is 30 vs 15 years actually "Mitigating factors in Allen's sentencing were the fact that the fraud was already underway when he became CEO of TBW in 2003, that his crime was a non-violent one, and that Allen was one of six persons who received credit on their sentences for cooperating with investigators and testifying against Farkas, the mastermind of the fraud scheme. (Farkas himself was sentenced to thirty years in prison.)" (Thank you @snail for the source)

@yogthos because I like sources...

Edit: reading the Snopes page fully shows that while technically correct, the main perpetrator of the fraud received a 30 year sentence. 15 years for the $100 theft still seems pretty disproportionate though, even if their were other unreported factors.

@snail ok so the guy who spearheaded the 2b dollar crime did get 30 years in prison. The dude in this story got a reduced sentence for telling on that guy. This story is clickbait / borderline fake news

@unsaturated I am now annoyed with myself for not reading all the way to the bottom of that Snopes article. I normally rate the site quite highly but I think in this case it could have done with highlighting that earlier on the page. 😔
