I came across this image of a building and first thought that the roof was made from wood. But no, the Moiré pattern resulting from the thin lines between the roof shingles mapped onto the discrete grid of an image sensor at an angle is just effectively the same hyperbolic math that leads to the cathedral grain patterns in flat-sawn wood.
