Except for the Nintendo Switch, I don’t collect games for modern consoles anymore. The reason is that, for video games, they represent a moment in time for me.

I have a SEGA Saturn because I have vivid memories of going to Toys R’ Us when I was 14-years-old, being completely amazed by the Saturn kiosk, and wishing to some day have a Saturn.

When I was 30-years-old, I finally got that privilege. And when I finally had it, I build new memories playing Street Fighter Alpha in my basement with a friend on an old CRT.

Fast forward to now. I don’t aspire to a Xbox Series S or PS5. In fact, they’re big downgrades compared to what I have now.

@atomicpoet Same here, especially the fact that apparently, even when people are able to buy physical games for the PS5, they're pretty much like pricey game launchers because even then, you'd still have to download the other content (probably due to how big the game is; it doesn't even fit the cd anymore or something 😭) plus... DLC and stuff idek at this point

Right now I still have a PS3 - the same one given to me by mom a few years ago and is apparently a hand-me-down from my relatives and I love and cherish that console with my whole heart. I haven't played with it much lately though because I never got the time, but I may consider playing it every once in a while if I could :33
