@chiefgyk3d it seems you have automated this message to appear after going offline. how does that work? i'd like to do a similar thing

@Amon_san It's actually a project I made when I moved to Mastodon because IFTTT and such didn't work. I have to enhance the code a bit as I want to dockerize it and eventually move it to an AWS Lambda. But it's on Github and you're more than welcome to use it and share the word. Mine runs off a raspberry Pi 3B+. I also have an automation to post when I star something to Github as well on that Pi to my Mastodon. https://github.com/ChiefGyk3D/twitch-and-toot

@Amon_san just know the docker version doesn't work... yet. I will get around to it before I work on the AWS Lambda.

@chiefgyk3d the things i run, run on bare metal at home. i never understood the need to put everything into containers

@Amon_san it adds portability and another layer. Docker adds user space separation. So there are both practical and security reasons it does help benefit. Most of my things are bare metal as well but since working at my current job for the past year I have learned a lot coding quite a few things.

@chiefgyk3d i'm looking at the script (as a semi-layperson) and it's quite easy to understand. GG
from what i understand currently there is no means included to run it automatically. can it be run as a service? cause i'd like to have a way to make sure it's running right after a reboot and to check a log if it throws any errors.
also other question: do you take feature requests? cause if so. bsky api also supports python and pip. https://atproto.blue/en/latest/

@Amon_san yeah I have it run as a systemd service on my raspberry pi if I recall. And then it checks a text file that’s been created based on the check interval you set . I’m planning to work it into a pure lambda function later once I get the dockerized version figured out too. Just been busy with life these past few months. Very aware it can be done better now as it was my learning project with Python and API. But it’s been reliably running for almost a year on a 3B+

@Amon_san also I do take feature requests, I have a Bluesky account from almost a year ago but just never really was impressed with the platform. There was/is a twitter functionality, but I no longer support the function as they ripped my API key access out. It did work last I checked it unless they changed the API.

This site here documents how to make a Systemd service similar to how I currently use it on my @Raspberry_Pi 3B+ for the past year for Twitch alerts on Mastodon
