@lain Latest thing I read was The Silk Roads: A New History of the World, which I got as a christmas gift

It's pop history POV-switched from europe to central/west asia. Pretty interesting, good anecdotes, some dots connected that I sorta knew of but didn't understand before. At times it feels like it's overselling the premise. Soft recommend to people interested in the topic but not well versed in it

@eal sounds perfect for me tbh

@lain @kaia Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is a classic for sure :thinking_cirno:

lain,
@lain@lain.com avatar

@cell @kaia maybe you can find 'in patagonia' or 'songlines' by bruce chatwin, those are nice too

cell,
@cell@pl.ebin.zone avatar

@lain @kaia actually let’s go beyond the mere medium of text - any photo books you would recommend?

i have some in mind but they are out of print and very hard to come by alas :mokouDead:

lain,
@lain@lain.com avatar

@cell @kaia sadly, no. probably the best for that is to just go to a bookstore and look at what's there

cell,
@cell@pl.ebin.zone avatar

@lain @kaia sure thing - just like how an author ideally reads more books than they write, a photographer ought to see more photos than they take :akko_think:

lain,
@lain@lain.com avatar

@cell @kaia i agree

kaia,
@kaia@brotka.st avatar

@lain
