@alex nope I'm a real person. Just because I am saying Reddit is alive and well doesn't mean I like it or that challenging your viewpoint of the situation automatically makes me "not real."
It’s easy to tell this is a copy/paste job (due to the repeated text from the subject pasted into the body) so I have to wonder if this is a bot.
Apparently, I wasn't clear enough when I said this, so my apologies, I will be clearer: it was the copy/paste (of the same wording) into the subject and body that had me wondering (because it is typical for bots to do this).
At no point whatsoever did I say or imply that I had a problem with your viewpoint and I do not appreciate you putting words in my mouth. If that's how you interpreted the above, that's not my issue - that is on you for misinterpreting my words.
I wasn't in any way challenging you, disagreeing with you or trying to silence you (so the defensiveness is uncalled for) but if I had, I would have been crystal clear that was my intent. Don't try to read between the lines and infer meaning that isn't there because you'll be wrong. You don't know me. If you aren't sure what someone said, there's this wonderful thing called "asking for clarification" and it doesn't cost you anything. it only takes a little extra effort. There's this well-known adage about assuming..I'm sure we both know how it goes.
Again, to be absolutely, positively 100% crystal clear: I wasn't talking about your words, I was talking about the way you typed them and nothing more. Again, copy/paste copy/paste screams "bot" to me and I'm sure others as well. If you had used a more sensible subject line, I wouldn't be asking if you're a human.
Nonetheless, thank you for confirming you are a real person. I appreciate the response but I could've done without the defensiveness. (As I am autistic, it took entirely too many 'spoons' to formulate a proper response.)
I'm here to stay. And on day 30 I will delete my Reddit account with no regrets. I am happy with what I have found in the fediverse, in small communities there are more interesting people.
It's funny. I genuinely intended to use reddit up until June 30 to contribute to that big drop in engagement they'll see once 3PAs get shafted, but that place is such a toxic shitpit that I haven't really had the desire to visit it at all.
You are probably right but we can try to build something here. It will take a lot of time but the mobile apps are coming and those will help cement the userbase. I’m still using Reddit to find information but not posting there anymore. We have control over what we do even if it has little effect.
