If you're a fan of 2D Metroid, you should play AM2R

For those of you who don't know, AM2R is a fan-made remake of Metroid 2.

I recently played through the 2D Metroid games, including Metroid: Dread. Instead of playing the originals of the first two games, I played the remakes:

• Zero Mission (Metroid 1)
• AM2R (fan-made Metroid 2 remake)
• Samus Returns (Nintendo's Metroid 2 remake)

I played both AM2R and Samus Returns because they're different enough from each other that the experiences felt unique. The graphics of Samus Returns are far better, but I enjoyed playing AM2R more.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Samus Returns. However, if I were to pick a couple of 2D Metroid games to re-play, it would be Dread and AM2R. It feels like top-tier Metroid.
