@yrabbit Weird isn't it; I wonder what all the Fortran people are doing; A lot of academic stuff seems to be numpy/jupyter, and the AI lot are bashing their huge matricies to bits without Fortran.

This reminded me of the old saying about science: new theories win not because they are true, but because the defenders of the old ones die 🤣
Perhaps those who write AI are young and simply do not know what Fortran can do. (not that I know, btw)
@yrabbit No I don't either; I remember when I was doing my undergrad in the 90's they only taught it to the Physics and Chemistry people. I think the belief was that they had so much hand tuned code that parallelised on supercomputers of the time they kept writing in it - but surely that argument must have died out years ago.
