They are generally referred to as communities or magazines.
I’m guessing the community will come up with their own nomenclature in time. But I’m personally fine with just referring to them as Fediverse Communities.
I feel like trying to come up with a “snappy” name is just another holdover from the site that shall not be named.
But then a gathering will be called a “lemon party”. And if you don’t know why that’s a problem, consider yourself lucky. Or Google it if you are brave.
