cazabon,

Dear ,

Please stop writing and disseminating "most " articles. Besides the fact that is a relatively useless criterion to select an implementation by [1], the sources of your data are all terrible, and generally fall into:

-questionnaires sent to by sites
-undocumented analysis of some large but random of
- questions given to users of some popular tool or website

cazabon,

Every single one of those suffers from severe self-selection biases - and even if a representative sample could be correctly taken, they're not actually closely related to how programming languages are matched to various problems.

It's lazy, click-baity at best, and fodder in actual fact most of the time.

[1] may like to pick "popular" languages so they have more programmers to pick from, lowering what they need to . See "Java", 1998-2015.

@cazabon in about a decade of doing CS and what is now data science I've seen: SQL dead because of MongoDB, et al a few times (yet SQL is on the top of one of the latest like a good zombie), C++ dead according to anyone but the pope (that probably uses COBOL which is dead too), statistics dead because of ML (yes I know 🤦), coding and everything dead because of LLMs, and the reality of companies training people in most of these dead things otherwise most of the world would come to an halt

Yes, exactly - thank you for pointing out that it is generally an "advertorial"-type thing.

It's really annoying. Good engineers/devs look at the problem they're trying to solve, and make tradeoffs considering applicability, efficiency, maintainability, overall ecosystem (to avoid having to reinvent the wheel for 17 parts of the new system), and other factors to choose the right language (and tools, etc) for the problem at hand.
