I see you have plenty of game suggestions.

I want to add that most games have discords or forums with LFG (looking for group) sections. These are specifically to find strangers to play the game with online. Most will be fairly newbie friendly, that is especially the case for the official discord for the smaller games.

I know it’s hard to put yourself out there, but it might work for you.

To start off with though if you’re comfortable with D&D you can get an “oracle” to play solo. An oracle helps determine outcomes, new story directions, etc. There’s a lot of different kinds and if you want a written one you can check DMs Guild iirc there’s some free/pay what you want ones on there. I’m sure there’s some random generator ones online as well if you don’t mind doing partly digital. Oracles can be as simple (flipping a coin for yes/no) or as complicated (not the most complicated, but ex. shuffling a deck of tarot cards and using spreads to decide outcomes) as you like.

There are also games (like Thousand Year Old Vampire) that are designed to be solo. The reddit sub has a pretty good list here.

Hope this helps a little! I mainly play D&D solo using pre-written adventures and a tarot oracle so unfortunately I don’t have any recs for designed to be solo games.

ive never had a friend before and im not sure how to make any

I would address that issue before the one of solo TTRPG, my experience of solo TTRPG is limited, journaling rpg are pretty special (and more a creative support for writing a than a classing RPG) and if Iron sworn is closer from the real-game it’s funnier in group. It’s fine to be a loner and somehow an outcast, but during covid lockdown, I was surprised to find out that some of my work grumpy old-men who live alone in the countryside so nobody bother them at a point still went to office just to see some people. So even if they need to see someone sometimes, you need it too.

Do you do any extra-scholar activity ? Tons of art and sport club do have classes for kids and teenager where you might be able to meet other people, you might not build lifelong friendship there (spoiler these ones are like twice in a lifetime) but you would make some friend even if you’re not among the cool kids. Some RPG club do accept minors, and there is even a few larp dedicated to kids (but many don’t take minor as managing kids during outdoor activity is a mess in term of liability, especially if you don’t have certified educators in the team)

There is a journaling solo rpg called Thousand Year Old Vampire. The writer of the book has a page where you can get a community copy.

At my local game store, I got the pdf copy with the purchase of the book. I put that on my phone, and use that a lot. Once you get the basic gist of the game, you will just need the tables, and if you don’t have dice, there some pages with random numbers that you can just close your eyes and point to in order to get a random number for the next prompt. I play it a lot without having the hardcopy with me. Not sure if you get allowance, but if you take the pdf to a UPS store, fedex store, or maybe the library they should be able to print it for you pretty cheap.

One I’d recommend is Vagrantsong. It’s a board game that plays very much like a TTRPG and can be done solo. It’s got a cool narrative and a fantastic setting/aesthetic. Probably much pricier than other options out there, however you could certainly convince your family to play it with you doing the narration (technically any of the players can).

Hi there, teen. Making friends is complicated, but you’re going to get there. As for the RPGs:

Oliver Darkshire frequently makes low stakes one-page RPGs. They’re hosted at a Patreon, but they’re all free, solo and very light. They’re often based on current events, but sometimes are just plain silly. The type of simply sitting down with a dice and rolling to pass the time.

Gwen Katz has also made a similarly goofy adventure, based on a (at the time) current event. Since I’m unsure how well Twitter linking works nowadays, I’ve also downloaded it and hosted elsewhere for you to browse

On a less silly side, Ronin is a solo-RPG about a wandering warrior. Although there is a suggested price, the pdf is Pay What You Want. Like the others before, it only requires d6 to play (and your imagination)

I hope you can have fun with these, don’t be shy about asking questions or wondering about other games just because you are a “noob”. Everyone starts somewhere.
