I've seen bad stand-up too so that seems an unfair status to judge them not belonging on.
Some songs are funny enough if that's what you're looking for. Axis of Awesome? Love 'em.
Never though have I been searching for stand-up and thought, "You know what? I hope someone uses a guitar as a crutch for their nervousness about the format."
I likewise don't mind funny song in proms or variety shows. Those are for a variety of things. I just maintain they aren't stand-up and their inclusion in specifically stand-up sets weakens the whole show.
I support the singers of funny songs and encourage people into that to follow the passion.
I hope they get a show in an appropriate showcase.
I also love stand-up and wish everyone into that genre the confidence to do it directly.
