There's nothing wrong with controlling / filtering the things you allow into your news feed.

Yes, there is a need to stay informed, but TBH the only immediate things one really needs are:

• a weather radio [Canada] [US] to alert of impending doom from volcanic eruption, inclement weather, earthquake or civil unrest
• local weather forecast
• local traffic & news

All of which can be accomplished without a Twitter, Reddit or Fediverse news feed.

You can't function if you're in a bad headspace. If you need to restrict your news intake, not only is that OK, but it is at times required and healthy.

Neurodivergent individuals are a thing. We do have different mechanisms of function for our respective brains.

That having been said, it is our cross to bear and the world isn't necessarily making accommodations for us.

I think !battletech is pretty neat. A setting with webs of overlapping political intrigue that shifts between different eras, all driven by conflicts where big stompy mechs are used to fight. It’s got decades of different miniatures behind the actual game, and the game itself is very rules crunchy. The small number of mechs needed to play makes it quite accessible compared to other wargames that need more of an investment.

!warhammer40k is another setting, probably more well known in the current mainstream. A huge variety of factions to choose from. It is the default game of any game store so you’re sure to be able to find other people to play with.

!star_wars is a setting that’s had a lot of controversy, but I personally like focusing on all of the great parts of it. I’m currently reading through some old EU books and really enjoying them.

It’s so bad… everything is so divisive in these modern times.

I’ve left every other place …this was my last ditch effort to stay connected online…it’s even worse here …just leaning harder to one side…

when free speech proponents stifle free speech, the world becomes more regressive.

I can’t even handle my beta forums anymore…

This world is maddening

Especially when mods with agendas remove opinions or beliefs that differ from their own…people are blind to the truth.

It's just that every time "Free Speech" is invoked lately, is by someone wondering why their positions "when ni**ers were property everything was simpler", "maybe Hitler wasn't that bad" "why can't we shoot who disagrees with us" get backlash, removed and banned.

This is a terrible response. As someone whom served and defended my own personal rights to free speech, this platform is ridiculously one sided.

Also, jumping on someone and denying their voice, is deplorable and ironic. This is the exact behavior that created this digital world …it’s cool though because non of your opinions matter to me anyway.
