If all goes well with my install tomorrow I might be tempted to give a try instead of my usual trusty ?
Anyone want to chime in with reasons for and against zsh ?

@JustineSmithies If you haven't seen it already, I wrote a small blog-post a few weeks ago about how you can make the bash prompt a bit more bearable by configuring readline. Especially for completions there are a few settings that really improve usability, at least for me.

@JustineSmithies Theoretically completion is much better but you spend ages fiddling with it to get it just how you want it.

The killer feature for me was file completion on remote computers when typing an rsync command…

@fishidwardrobe Ooh that sounds very cool.

@JustineSmithies Zsh is really cool I use to used a couple of years ago but now I'm in love with Fish shell, it's amazing !!

@JustineSmithies I use zsh with ohmyzsh (adds things like history autocompletion, better than Bash) and I am much more productive, to the point where I now find it frustrating when I have to use Bash.

Oh no if I did jumpt ship to I currently use Starship prompt but I see there is also Spaceship prompt specifically for ZSH.
Anyone use the later and is it better to use than Starship ?

@JustineSmithies I’ve always just used the default spaceship config on both zsh and bash. Usually root is bash and my user is zsh and they both seem to work just fine with the default config. As for zsh vs bash I’ve always told myself I’d make bash have all the bells and whistles in zsh with various other programs but have never gotten around to it so I’m still sticking with zsh and keep bash in root as a precaution of overzealous configs I might make in zsh. I’m pretty happy with zsh so far
