In Seattle they ignited a tumultuous feud between local crime syndicates and played a key role in some of the city's most salacious political scandals. The arrival of pinballs coincided with the repeal of Prohibition, and pinball machines soon became common in taverns, pool halls, and seedy nightclubs.
