He has very little power actually, his main purpose is to be the leader of his party and a public figure for diplomatic relations. That’s why just a couple days ago he backed off with this statement and said it is up to judiciary to decide.
You do realize that law enforcement is limited by jurisdiction and national law enforcement reports directly to the executive of the country. This is how the USA handles hosting criminals, and even electing them.
