Six questions and answers about my #CloudDFIR class at @defcon Trainings on August 14-15:
Q1: Who is your target audience?
A1: While my class is open to all professionals, it's geared towards those with a background in Cloud computing and/or DFIR.
Q2: What is the key difference between what you teach versus other similar courses?
A2: I cover the core concepts of #DFIR in #cloudcomputing in a single day versus over the span of three or four days. Day Two is meant to test my students' comprehension of the material via the CTF.
Q3: What will you be covering in your training course?
A3: Group discussions on containers, IoT/Edge devices, PLCs; indicators of compromise (IoCs); vendor and industry best practices; encryption vs encoding; steganography; after-action reporting; and plenty of hands-on labs including Wireshark, TSK/Autopsy, Volatility, YARA, CFF Explorer, and Cloud-native tools.
Q4: Why are you charging so much for your course?
A4: Comparatively speaking, my training course at DCT Vegas is less expensive when measured against similar courses but still can provide great value.
Q5: How long have you been teaching on this topic?
Q6: How have others rated your course in the past?
A6: The most and highest-rated feedback I received was from my students at BSidesKC when I taught there last year. Overall my course has consistently been well-received with a few exceptions.
The key takeaway from each event is that I listened to my students' feedback and implemented their suggestions into the training, which is how I came up with its current version.

Awwww yah, I'm speaking @BSidesCharm again this year! But this time around I'll be joined on stage by @JimSycurity, and I could not be more psyched. We'll be talking about the unholy couple that is Active Directory and DNS.
