We had our second visit to last night. A friend and I shared the Caesar salad, which was really good. I particularly enjoyed the dressing.

I also tried the tuna ceviche, which I also really liked. And they included a pretty slice of watermelon radish. I'm still wondering about the beans being used for the chips, whether they're washed and re-used or just thrown away. I feel like it's such a waste if they're thrown away. /1

Oh, and I remembered to take a picture of the multicolored tortilla this time. Isn't it pretty? Next time, I want to watch them make them for a little while because they're behind glass so you can see them.

Two of us had the maya-thai, with the salted guava foam. We'd gotten a taste of the foam last time, and it was so good. The entire drink is really good.

The dessert menu, written this time! I had the mango again. /3 end

We made our first visit to last night, right before official opening day today.

We started with an amuse bouche that included corn tortillas (which were underneath the folded napkin, and which I apparently didn't think to take a picture of). I really liked them, and they were sort of multi-colored patchwork quilt - very cool. The cheese was really good, as was the salsa and black bean spread. /1

We tried all three desserts. My favorite was the mango ice cream with chamoy and watermelon cubes, but the other two chocolate-y desserts were really good too. The "corn cob" is actually molded white chocolate colored to look like corn. I'm not a fan of white chocolate, but it looked cool.

Looking forward to future visits to try more things. We also toured the restaurant, and they've done a great job with the decor and the gorgeous views of . /4 end

Dinner last night was our quarterly dinner at . New to the menu since our last visit was braised short rib on polenta. Oh my gosh, so good. Perfect texture, wonderful flavor.

And my usual classic Washington Apple martini from my favorite bartender.

Ever since I saw this location, I've wondered about their choice of company name. Because the only thing I can think of that's "expressed" is breast milk. Are the beignets squeezed out of giant boob-shaped machines?

APPARENTLY, not everyone thinks that way. Maybe I've just been around a lot of nursing mothers in my life.

Loved this decor at . How convenient to have a book that holds itself open? It's cool and creepy at the same time. Perfect combo.

Had dinner last night at in , mostly to say hi to a friend who's temporarily working there.

Started with the minestrone, which was good. Also shared the bruschetta, which was also good and which I forgot to take a picture of. My entree was the penne pasta, which was ok, and which I normally prefer with red sauce. Tried a side of polenta, which was fine. 1/2

Not really that excited to return, other than to see the people that I know. The food was generally fine but nothing spectacular. The ladies room was very messy and needed cleaning up when I went at the beginning of dinner. The outside check-in process is convoluted and confusing.

However, our server was terrific. 2/2
