Be like Ryusui from Dr Stone. Be such a force of nature that you need your own OVA just to introduce you, and your own special version of the opening song. And be such a whirlwind of enthusiasm that nobody really stops to think about the connotations of what you're actually doing.
Not a lot of anime that have jumped out at me so far from trailers and promotional material, so not a long list so far
Definitely watching #Frieren only had time to watch 1st EP so far but honestly depending on how the series progresses might get a spot in my top 10 anime
Besides that defintely watching #DrStone New World Part 2. Really excited about that one since it left off on a bit of a cliff hanger.
I'm a bit basic when it comes to the #anime that I like but I want to take a second to join the bandwagon praising #DrSTONE.
The basic formula is that it's a growing powers #shonen series with the twist being that they're bootstrapping a tech tree with science instead of training muscles or ki. That's already enough innovation that it would stand out. But I think one of its strongest elements is that they constantly remind us that the MC, Senku, isn't all powerful. He regularly comes up against problems that he can't resolve but either identifies others who can, asks for help from others, or is interrupted by an unsolicited idea that he freely admits is better than anything he could have come up with.
Yeah, any decent shonen battler will do a little bit of that for their power of friendship message but imagine how different it would be if every episode you needed secret techniques that Goku didn't know or sucked at so he had to instant transmission to ask for help multiple times. Yeah, there'd still be no doubt he was the world's strongest but one of his most important powers is that he's surrounded by friends, rivals, former enemies, and family who all have something that meaningfully contributes.
Dovetailing off of that, Dr. Stone wrote itself into a bit of a corner because Senku is supposed to be a genius of all science and technology. Their solution is to acknowledge that science is significantly broader than his domains of expertise. Sure, nobody will know more about chemistry than him but he's a mere dilettante in economics, logistics, military science, culinary science, politics, and the like. He's even less skilled in the arts and starts a lot of sentences admitting that he lacks practical applications knowledge or the local wisdom that comes from experience. Yet again, these are opportunities for our protag to play second fiddle to a massive and ever growing supporting cast.
The art style (especially early) may rub some people the wrong way but it really is a solid show. It's worth a watch.
