Perhaps it was named by the Roman soldiers under Pilate?
Soldier's diary entry: "What a good day. Slept well, up at nine-thirty gone ten, full English, tried out the new shield, did a little crucifixion, took a long lunch. All in all a Good Friday. Now if that stone we put in front of that tomb would just stay put, next week will be off to a good start."
