Set in the late 80s, it does a phenomenal job at balancing raw honesty, humor, and kindness. There's both a story for fans of #Sprizzy and #EdStede (though I am, admittedly, recc'ing for the Izziness of it all)

@IzzyCanyon I don't care that it's not #FanficFriday anymore, I'm rereading some of the things in the collection I shared and rediscovered my absolute favourite exchange in any fanfic ever.
“But it really does take away from the aesthetic, Israel—”
“Fuck your aesthetic,” says Izzy, and when Stede huffs, clenching his fists and raising his shoulders, Izzy rolls his eyes, but he does add, “Captain,” onto the end, and that makes Stede huff again.
“It’s not even the same sort of wood—”
“So we’ll buy boards to match,” growls Izzy.
“But the grain—”
“I’m not fucking debating this with you, Bonnet, if you want to keep your fucking library, you have two fucking choices – either you let me enclose the fucking shelves in cabinets, or you let me put in the fucking props.”
“But, Israel,” says Stede, “won’t they just look so clumsy¸ and they’ll cut across the fine covers and make them look so—”
A gust of wind catches them and shoves the ship suddenly to one side, and Oluwande bends his knees to go with the swell, which Izzy does naturally – Stede stumbles, but Izzy’s hand whips out and grabs him under the waist, stabilising him before he can topple. Izzy holds up his gloved hand, and Oluwande can hear distantly from below decks the sound of stuff falling, and Ed going, “Fuck!”
Izzy looks up into Stede’s face, raising his eyebrows.
“Now, there’s no cause to be smug,” says Stede snippily.
“Go pick up your books, Bonnet,” says Izzy. “If you’re so fucking scared of them not being hung straight, I’ll put in the props myself.”
Stede smiles, a warm curve of his lips and a brightness in his cheeks, his eyes shining. “Oh, Izzy,” he says brightly, touching the back of Izzy’s arm where Izzy still has a handful of Stede’s jacket, holding him up. “Will you really?”

A fic rec for #fanficfriday or #ficrec! I love Murder in Barbarikon, a #TheEagle#TheEagleOfTheNinth post canon fic with a murder mystery and fake dating! I really like how it's totally different than 'Marcus and Esca settle down and become farmers' and they instead travel together for the rest of their life. This is a great locked room murder mystery and Esca ans Marcus' misunderstandings and then realisations are so well done.
