Ontario's public broadcaster #TVO is sitting on $17 million in long-term investments while its journalists and education workers are on their fifth week of a strike for fair wages and job security.
On the TVO/CMG picket line yesterday, a stranger came up to me with a bag of Cinnabon buns, said: “You deserve everything you’re asking for,” and left without telling me their name. I did my due diligence by eating the first one to make sure they weren’t poisoned. I believe this mysterious bun-giver was an angel and I refuse to accept anything else. It's Day 24 today and we're so grateful for all the support we've received. #FundTVOLikeItMatters#StopPassingTheBuck#EnoughIsEnoughON#Labour
A bit ago, I bought a P1 message at the live show of our favorite Star Trek podcast, The Greatest Generation. The hosts, Ben and Adam, redirected the funds for the message straight back to TVO CMG's strike fund for union workers on the picket (including John McGrath).
CMG members at TVO are asking our employer and the government for fair wages, and are saying "NO" to normalizing precarious work at your provincial public broadcaster.
To provide Ontarians with fair, factual and high-quality journalism and education, we need the province to #FundTVOLikeItMatters. Because it does! Please write to your MPP and tell them you believe the same.
