My #WIPWednesday this week is tracking down this historic lace pricking [the paper or parchment with the pin holes for our pattern].

Found in Gertrude Whiting's "Tools and toys of stitchery" from 1928.

I found the ship--it is an Edward Savage rare print from 1799. I couldn't believe it. Anyone with insights--please share.

#WIPWednesday. I decided that I needed to make some #IpswichLace in actual #IpswichMA. And I really needed a beach day. It was wonderful--a perfect summer day. Stunning

Had to briefly stop when this small ladybug decided to check out my #BobbinLace pillow.

The beach walkway has a small deck perch with benches, overlooking the sea grass and dunes, a sandy beach, and further out the blue ocean water and a little island off to the left. Some small puffy clouds are casually floating by in the glorious blue sky. My blue roller lace pillow is set up for work on a small folding table on the gray weathered wooden deck area.

New project underway. Also the first time I've been able to try my new-to-me roller pillow from a rare eBay find.

I want to thank the family who put grandma's pillow up. I will cherish it, I promise.

Two days of progress, roughly 6 inches of the lace. It's about a 2 inch wide piece. The pattern is a wavy left edge, with some diamond shaped motifs in the troughs of the wave to the right, and then an area of what we call the "ground" or just some kind of plain stitches that make up background. About 3 inches are wound on my little holder tiny bolster shape thing. I will wind my production around that as I go forward. The working area is full of brass pins that hold the stitches that were just recently made. Hanging off the working area are all the bobbins and their black threads. I put a ruler to the right for scale.
