What do we think of #netgear#orbi devices, #askfedi ? And should I shelve the extra money for WiFi 6e or stick with the 20% cheaper WiFi 6? (No not paying for a WiFi 7 model)
I'm in a good spot with my Home Lab for the moment. Itching to try new things, but need to ensure the basics are in place first.
Several layers of firewalls are in place. But I'd like to group devices (IoT, daily use devices like iPads, Laptops, etc.) away from anything serving content outside the LAN in more defined way.
My #NetGear#Orbi router is dumb and won’t do local DNS entries and that is really annoying me.
It seems as though someone at #netgear is testing in production. Every #orbi mobile app in the known universe, it seems, sent spurious-looking meaningless-seeming push notifications.
Rest assured, there are already hundreds of comments about this online. :)
It’s been three years (give or take a couple of weeks) since Netgear released a firmware update for my network switches.
The S8000 (GS808E) was meant to usher in a flagship low latency and gamer friendly switch. Can’t help but feel Netgear abandoned it shortly after it shipped.
Wondering if it’s time to replace the four 8 port switches I have dotted around our home. But with what? I use a #Firewalla Gold in router mode, and eeros for Wi-Fi (they replaced #Netgear#Orbi units that were also poorly supported).
