I played a bit more Red Dead Redemption 2 which is a fun game, paused to watch Tonari no Yokai-san and Yatagarasu. OMG Tonari no Yokai-san on the surface is a sweet anime but it gets dark; I was bawling my eyes out due to the new episode.
Yatagarasu is entertaining but doesn't cause a lot of profound feelings to spring up. I do want to know what happens next in Yatagarasu because the story structure is enthralling and written well!
The first really new anime for this season that I liked is #BartenderGlassOfGod. I’m not sure yet if it will get competitive somehow, I might prefer if it’s more laid back and just makes you feel like a nice evening in a calm bar. Either way I liked the first episode and how it transports the joy of having a good drink.
I found out by searching it on MAL that it’s a remake of an anime from 2006 that I didn’t know existed, and based on a manga with 21 volumes. Didn’t feel outdated at all (they must have added the smartphone stuff).
Watching season 3 of #YuruCamp is a no-brainer for me. It’s just nice like meeting some friends you haven’t seen in a while. After going to Japan recently I’m also realizing more strongly how many realistic details there are with the locations they go to.
Nothing more to say here.
I’m watching the new season of #ThatTimeIGotReincarnatedAsASlime because I watched the previous ones and follow the LN. Sometimes I wonder why I still read it but the world is quite interesting and there are a lot of details there, as well as a lot of characters where it’s easy to find a few to like.
For the anime l’m mostly fascinated that it’s so popular despite being mostly about Rimuru handling politics and economics. And it looks great, everything is so lively. I’m looking forward to the upcoming arc.
My husband said the manga is so great, but I had enough of #ReMonster after half of the first episode. It turns out to be just another isekai with a male lead who levels like crazy and will probably be overpowered within a few episodes.
But more importantly, I can’t support a show with a main character who just shrugs seeing human women who were captured to bear children, beats his fellow goblin to teach him manners and is just like “whoops I didn’t dose it well” after poisoning (presumably killing) one of his brethren… and the show doesn’t show signs of condemning him for it.
There you can see mini-reviews, comments from some of our other staff on each first episode, and links to the full first impression for each series after they've dropped.
Check it out and let us know what you're watching this season!
Good morning and hope your April is starting out great!
Our staff is hard at work watching as many of the new anime for the Spring 2024 season that they can. We'll be dropping First Impression posts as close to the drop date of each of these shows as we possibly can.
