I get that you get that you're excited to be here to be here, but that isn't this isn't it. This isn't bluesky that isn't mastodon that isn't tumblr that isn't bluesky. Years of imposing artificially low character limits on social media yet NO REAL WORLD use found.
Want to write a short post? We had a tool for that, it was called "write less text than the maximum allowable length!"
We went from 100,000 character limits on forum posts in dial-up days to 500 character limits on Mastodon or 3000 on Misskey.
Look at some of the character-limited posts that character-limiters want us to take seriously:
OTOOAIBOOAOMTGMKCIITMOM <--A giant acronym that's incomprehensible to anyone outside of the in group, just to save characters.
An image containing a giant wall of text with no alt-text using 100 times as much data as the text on its own would use just to circumvent a character limit and exclude creatures who need accessibility.
