Finally an update on day 3 of a #scotland train and hiking trip. No trains today, but ample hiking 😊 took the ferry 🚢 from #Uig to #Tarbert, Outer Hebrides. Fantastic weather and some nice wildlife along the way. Gannets (Jan-van-gent), razorbills (kleine alk), puffin (papegaaiduiker), more great northern diver (ijsduiker) and even two dolphins 🐬
The busy harbour at Tarbert in Argyll, built on the narrow strip of land where two lochs nearly meet: a strip of land that is all that prevents Kintyre from becoming an island. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/tarbert/tarbert/index.html
Tarbert, on the east coast of the sparsely populated island of Jura, with mainland Argyll in the distance. Here Jura is nearly cut in half by deeply indenting Loch Tarbert, narrowing the island to under three quarters of a mile.
