Onward, #fedivoyage! This is the last stop; afterwards @blinry and I will wrap it up and look back.
I will take a look at #plume, a "blogging application". This means it's an alternative to #writefreely, which we visited approximately one year ago. So let's see!
This time: #mobilizon. It's for "event planning and group management" and is an alternative to meetup and eventbrite, according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia also says that there's federation to e.g. Mastodon – let's see!
Very fitting fun fact: a typical part of the domains for mobilizon instances seems to be "fomo" :>
You have to have an account on the flohmarkt server to offer something, but you can react from any fediverse software.
It was very easy to create an account and to write my offer. The only problem is that if you forget the picture before putting it online, you can't change that; editing seems only possible for the text.
Oh, very nice! If you find something on any #flohmarkt instance, you get a link to your own fediverse account, so that you can react to it without extra registration. This is very convenient!
@blinry and I are continuing the #fedivoyage. We decided to have a look at #flohmarkt, a fleamarket software. As usual, we are looking for interesting instances – especially since the fediverse observer only lists three servers...
i'm still on #kbin for the #fedivoyage. One major confusiong aspect is the difference between boosting and faving: These seem to be two different things and only one works as "upvote" as reddit does – but it's not clear which one... Most sources on kbin say boost=upvote, but the explanations are confusing. Most sources outside kbin say the opposite. :/
Summing up, I'm really confused by #kbin. I think #lemmy is easier to use, but I imagine that if you are using it a lot, the confusing kbin features start to make sense and be really useful. #fedivoyage
Short wrapup for the #fedivoyage station of this week. #friendica federates very well and seems to imitate facebook well (but I'm not the person to judge) – but we didn't get to a lot of interaction this week, so we are not much entertained. But it was interesting to see!
First #friendica impression of the #fedivoyage :
At registration you have to give your "full name" (apparently something with a whitespace in it). Sad times for my mononymous travel companion, who had to escalate from blinry to blinry blinry...
My guess: You have to give your full name (or at least act like it) so that it feels more like facebook, grabbing all your data :D
Tomorrow, we are going to choose our next destination for the #fedivoyage. Any recommendations? Maybe some Mastodon competitors? Or a facebook clone, like friendica or hubzilla?
I found the Community "Ask men over 30"! There are some good questions I also asked myself. But looking at the answer count, it seems that there are no men over 30 on Lemmy... #fedivoyage
I seeing some meta discussions about lemmy in general and about lemmy in comparison to reddit. It seems that (survivorship bias!) people on lemmy consider the atmosphere on lemmy more pleasant. Example: https://feddit.de/post/1948030
@blinry and I are continuing our #fedivoyage! This time we want to take a look at #lemmy for a week. Can anyone here recommend a lemmy instance? #askfedi :BoostOK:
