Yesterday at Odyssey Games Pasadena was three of us among a sea of minis games, card gamers, and a big group of board gamers later. So we were very civil with two 3-player games on civil-wars.
First was Brotherhood and Unity on early-1990s Bosnia and Herzegovina. That was followed by the semi-uncooperative Land and Freedom on the Spanish Civil War.
Mark has terminal cancer, and has made a ton of #wargaming videos you should know about. Let's get him to at least 1000 subscribers, and push him past that milestone. It isn't much compared to a lot of #wargame content creators, but he deserves it. Go watch his videos, enjoy the #wargames he plays and talks about and go subscribe. #HexesForever
While watching a #wargame video on #YouTube, they offered me a video in the sidebar to watch titled "how to handle his soft penis". #wtf I'm not sure how they worked out that recommendation!
The taking of Takrouna was successful. #advancedsquadleader scenario 51 from Hollow Legions. Somehow I keep picking scenarios with board 25, but it's a lot of fun to climb cliffs and wade through wadis up mountains. #HexesForever
One of my fave yet under used mechanics in #boardgames is double-blind. Each player has an identical map where the only their units and the front line is marked. Units tend to blunder into each other when players call out the enemy controlled hex they are moving into. 8th Army: Operation Crusader is the best of the 3 put out by GDW in the early 80s.
The game came out way back in 1984. How many board gamers are younger than this #boardgame ? On second thoughts don’t answer that! #hexesforever

I’ve read and re-read the rules over and over, I’ve watched and forgotten the appropriate videos and I still don’t understand the Russian garrison rules or the soviet scenario card in Gathering Storm. #wargame#HexesForever though it’s not a hex and counter game.

This time teaching @zeotter . I played the Revolutionary side. Setting up the Revolutionaries for the end game is a challenge. Kicking out the Tsar isn’t difficult. Controlling the rise in Unrest, building organizations, all while undermining the loyal Government troops is. Good game though. #hexesforever#boardgames
