#4 has some mates over, again, for a board game marathon & I was asked to reprise my jambalaya feast from the other weekend. Did mis en place prep a bit ago and will drop some pix after it's made. Had to double the honey cornbread recipe O_O.
#4 & I are both very “counter culture”. We abhor going along with the “theme of the day”. His French Honors class went to New Orleans for their annual trip this year (other trips were too expensive for folks from rural Maine) & he discovered a #nom for the regional cuisine.
The book also has a killer mac-n-cheese recipe, so I made that for $SPOUSE, and threw together some honey cornbread w/fresh sweetcorn in it. I also made some jambalaya w/o time for $SPOUSE (& it was the culprit, so 👍🏽). #nom#tired
Sometimes, when programming in #Rust, I'm wondering whether there is a little Ferris in my computer whispering to all those 0's and 1's to behave correctly. :ferris:
Otherwise I can't describe the following experience:
Rewrite parts of #parsing a programming language from #nom to #chumsky (the parts that are most interleaved with each other => indirect recursion over multiple non-terminals!).
I have been "challenged" to make a "Pizza Rustica" (the photo of the fully baked one is what mine will hopefully come close to) for this eve of Easter.
It was super hard to not eat up half the ingredients while preparing them.
Will post the final result provided I don't mess it up. #nom
Many people say that #Rust is very hard to #prototype with or to #refactor. This couldn't be further from the truth! It is the exact opposite!
Let me share with you one of the most profound experiences I had with #RustLang on a casual sunday - a thread 🧵
I'm currently rewriting my #transpiler from #nom to #chumsky and until now everything has turned out great so far, until I've hit the following road block:
Implementing parsers by using #parser functions that have indirect #recursion.
Made individual wellingtons for ❤️ Day and used the excess pastry dough, today, to make some brunch/breakfast pastries stuffed with bacon, egg, spinach, 6-mos aged manchego, and chives #nom
Currently in the process of rewriting my #transpiler from #nom v4.2 to #chumsky v1.0.0-alpha.6 🤓
It is a lot of fun so far, but I have to say these type signatures are wild!😄
I'm still struggling with it far more than I'd like, but I guess it is just a matter of time until intuition kicks in and it will become more and more natural.
Exciting project ahead!🙂
I'm even able to parse string literals with escape sequences - something I haven't even achieved with nom!
