OZZY OSBOURNE Opens Up About Undergoing Stem Cell Therapy For Parkinson's Disease
On the latest episode of SiriusXM's "Ozzy Speaks", Ozzy Osbourne spoke with co-host Billy Morrison about receiving stem cell therapy for Parkinson's disease. The legendary BLACK SABBATH frontman was diagnosed in 2003 with Parkin 2 — a very rare genetic form of Parkinson's.
Vertex reports that, over a year after receiving stem-cell therapy, two type 1 diabetes patients no longer need insulin injections and their HgA1c levels declined.
Vertex’s treatment, VX-880, replaces damaged pancreatic islet cells with stem cells that have been “coaxed in a lab to develop into those same insulin producing factories.” 1 of 2 patients dropped out for unstated reasons. Patients do need to take lifelong immunosuppressants.
