Okay the native title to the #ThaiBL "A Boss And A Babe" wasn't easy for me to get. I still don't get it. Trying to find out about it was a bit educational. And even if I don't get it, I have found out at least that it's a wordplay with a verse from a poem which is used for learning the alphabet. There's a line that runs:
I guess not many people are watching the "1000 Years Old" #ThaiBL because it's so slow and "nothing is happening". And I think the overall quirkiness, and maybe because of the colours?, has a certain Wes Anderson feel to it haha.
Anyone watch Triage? The MDL reviews are over the top gushing and nearly all positive so when it was recommended to me I gave it a go. It's ambitious but there are far better series in every regard.
Tee played his two-note character well enough, I liked a few characters, my highlight was recognising a voice and realising it was Gong from Moonlight Chicken. I know I react differently to stressful dramas but this was inferior and not worth it.
Started the Thai Cherry Magic because I didn't want to risk getting into anything stressful. J-drama does shy awkward introvert better than Thai and that was one of the things I really liked about the Japanese version.
It did sort of have to be New in the role from his age group. I was half expecting them to cast a 21 year old because what is age anyway? :)
The other thing I especially like has carried over though - how thoroughly green flag Kurosawa/Karan is.
I've been enjoying watching everyone's reaction posts to #MoonlightChicken it's one of my favorite Thai BLs and it's nice to see so many people enjoying it.
For those who are done with moonlight chicken, if you want...
more EarthMix, watch A Tale of a Thousand Stars
more GeminiFourth, watch My Class President
more FirstKhaotung, watch The Eclipse
and give us more reaction threads. These are great :)
I dunno. In my experience, if the cat likes your date, then your date is a good one. I had a boyfriend who was hated by my cat. But that same cat loved my Spouse.
So waking up the next day to find your cat happily getting scritched on the lap of your date is a good sign.
#ThaiBL#DFF ep11 / Okay so we see the "bad" guy having compassion and the bullied boy questioning why he has to suffer all this while he did his best to belong. If we want to discuss this with Buddhist terms I would say that it's important for the oppressed to question karma. "What did I do wrong that I am trapped now as part of other people's deluded behaviour?"
I'm still watching the 2022 #Khunchai series and how the younger generation Tian, Yang and Pin are trying to find their own way is really nice to watch. The wonderful relationship between the brothers, Yang's loyalty towards his elder brother Tian which we witnessed already in episode 2 found a highlight in the coming out scene of episode 10.
Someone sent an excerpt on Buddhism to our study group, and the quote started with "Should we as Western followers of the Buddhadharma etc." and I decided I don't need to read on - because, like, am I "Western"? Don't feel like it lately ...
It was excerpt on karma by the way. It'll be funny if I would share in the study group that my understanding of karma is very much informed by #ThaiBL and #ThaiDrama narratives in general haha.
my contribution is that GMMTV's recycled pairings are the multiverse equivalent of lovers fated to find each other lifetime after lifetime, except it has to be multiverse rather than reincarnation because they're already at uni by next year's series :)
I started off with watching #ThaiBL and am now exploring some #ThaiDrama
Today I remembered that there are also some Thai series and movies on Netflix (not much but still quite a few available for Europe). What are those really? And who are the people (in Europe) watching these?
finally watching My School President, khab. oh the puppy swagger and unearned boy confidence. i'm the toughest puppy. NO! I'M the toughest puppy. ok, you are the toughest puppy but imma never going to admit that woof 🐶
End of the Year Drama Challenge 2023
I'm gonna try to make this a thread. Yay for the ability to edit posts, I suppose? I'll also link in the post(s?) that isn't (aren't?) in order.

Day 15: A trope you loved seeing in 2023
“The person who they thought was their love rival is now their love interest.” Especially when somewhere in there, said “rival” agrees to help the character woo their initial crush.
Day 20: A drama that made you cry (part 2)
Moonlight Chicken helps me grieve, with story lines which speak to parts of my pain and characters supporting each other, and in a sustainable way instead of the usual 3 minutes before chronic fatigue shuts it down. It's why that series is so special to me.
He's Coming to Me had me so completely wrapped up in the story I went right along with Thun and P'Med.
Both directed by P'Aof. #ThaiDrama#ThaiBL
The quality and depth of the friendship matters more than anything because that's what a lasting relationship is built on.
Minoru & Yutaka slowly sharing their past with each other as their friendship heals old wounds and becomes love.
Bokura no Shokutaku
Jim & Wen, the slowest of slow burn romances, who took the time to get their heads in the right place to build a solid foundation for their home.
