I worked security at an amusement park and happened to work a late shift when we switched to DST. Instead of getting off at 3 a.m., we all got off at 4 a.m. We were all pretty pissed because we didn’t get OT.
Life is Strange: True Colors completely fucked with my head. Not all the plot relevant and intense parts of the game, but the moments where Alex found a new home and community. Especially the end where
spoilerGabe’s “ghost” guides you to choose between staying in Haven or leaving.
Watching the scenes of Alex staying really hit me hard because I lived for years in a place I hated, was working in a stressful environment I hated, and was 1000 miles away from my friends. It took a while to get out of that funk, but I haven’t gone back to play it despite being in a better place and it being one of my favorite games of all time.
My biggest pet peeves are when I see a channel insist that I buy a brand new piece of equipment or an ingredient that can only be found in a specialty shop. I love Babish, but it annoys me when he says, “Go to your local Mexican grocery store,” or something of that nature. I do not have one, and if I do, it’s more catered towards a white American and not the immigrants looking for their countries ingredients. I had to stop watching Joshua Weissman because he would constantly say I needed a certain piece of equipment that was $100+ or a fresh ingredient and there was no way I would ever be able to get it fresh.
The cooking channel I love the most is Internet Shaquillle. He never says you have to buy a certain product. He’ll straight up show you things you can buy at Kroger for $2. And he’ll give alternatives if you don’t have certain equipment. Ethan Chlebowski is another fantastic one.
Pope Francis has lamented a “very strong reactionary attitude” in the US Catholic Church, saying that ideology had replaced faith in some parts of it and some members had failed to understand “there is an appropriate evolution in understanding matters of faith and morals.”...
I have to agree. I saw a mini exodus from my childhood church. I grew up “catholic”. My parents made me go to church and get confirmed, but they were always part of the more progressive part of catholics. Believed that gay marriage was perfectly fine, abortion was only the woman’s choice, and evolution was a fact. And they always taught me that the Bible was mostly fiction. Jesus existed, but he was a person, not a magic man and the Old Testament was a book of parables. They were obviously in the minority, but our church had a bunch of people like them. They actually just really liked the teachings and the community.
It wasn’t until 2012 when our city’s diocese sent out a flyer telling them how to vote and a fellow churchgoer did the same, telling them they weren’t real catholics if they didn’t vote straight R. They haven’t been to any church since and although they both consider themselves catholic, heavily criticize the current state of the church (and all the pedophilia shit).
I remember being absolutely obsessed with this show when it was on. I had my dad rush me home from basketball practice to catch it on time. None of this is really surprising to hear though.
